BACKGROUND:

Health facilities are traditionally high consumers of fossil fuel energy, so The Sunderland Primary Care Trust wanted to demonstrate how it is possible to create a highly energy efficient community health facility in Houghton-le-Spring. Factors behind the centre’s super ‘green’ rating include renewable energy provided by 12.5 square metres of solar thermal panels to preheat domestic hot water, 350 square metres of photovoltaic panels and a quiet revolution QR5 wind turbine, supplied and installed by Sitec Infrastructure Services Ltd.

SITEC INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES LTD SOLUTION:

The QR5 was perfect for this installation as the unique design is tapered to shed noise and capture turbulent winds whilst eliminating vibrations. The design would integrate well with the modern and clean look of the building.

CONCLUSION:

For this client we installed 3 turbines on 3 separate sites. In the first instance, Houghton-le-Spring was commissioned then followed Washington and Grindon Lane. The clients expectations were exceeded at all 3 sites, the superb design of the QR5 meeting their needs.
